BBC’s 3D Weather Map Raises Scottish Self-Esteem Issues
A nice information design “lessons learned” anecdote from the british island: On May 14th, BBC released a press text “Brighter outlook as BBC Weather goes 3D“. The steep perspective (the island is shown from the south) which made Scotland appear smaller, made Scottish people protest against the new map. As the BBC reports, they received about 4000 protest mails. Meanwhile, the map has been changed. (Now it shows Scotland under clouds! What’s worse?)
