Wherever You May Roam: SwitchProxy Tool for Firefox/Mozilla

Here is an extension that simplifies life of roaming Firefox users a great deal. (No, it’s not the Netscape Roaming Access revival, which seems to be on the way, too).

But, the SwitchProxy Tool allows users to easily switch between proxy servers in a list which they pre-configured. For those (like me) who frequently switch between home, school or office network, this is pretty nice.

Well, it would be even nicer if I wouldn’t have to care about this. Since I am using an IBM ThinkPad coming with a tool called Access Connections, I am already consciously switching network settings. What if the SwitchProxy tools autmagically recognized which enviromnent I’m in and thus would adapt to it? Or, why not read the Internet Explorer proxy settings, which can be configured in Access Connections per environment? Well, life just isn’t perfect.
